Data Privacy / Record Retention Presentation
Attorney and data privacy expert Aaron Belzer will give a presentation about the new Colorado Data Privacy and Retention legislation that will go into effect in July 2023.
Bio:
Aaron is the founding partner at Belzer Law. A former managing partner at a large Colorado law firm, appellate law clerk for the Honorable Gilbert M. Román on the Colorado Court of Appeals, and Editor in Chief of the Denver University Law Review, Aaron’s practice is focused on litigating complex trial-level disputes as well as appeals. He is certified as a trial lawyer by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and was awarded the prestigious Trial Skills Certificate in 2019. Aaron has also received both the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Award and the Super Lawyers Rising Star Award for four consecutive years.
Abstract:
The new Colorado Privacy Act is set to take effect on July 1, 2023. The presentation will discuss not only the potential impact of the new law regarding privacy, data management, and data security, but also the newly afforded rights of consumers. We will explore possible judicial interpretations of the new law based on existing state and federal precedent, how that jurisprudence might be applied in this new context, similar laws that exist in other states, and how to prepare for Colorado's new law to take effect.
